This report in the Moscow Times about a Russian man who sued Oktyabrskaya Railroad and won after they rejected him for employment because he was gay:
“The rejection came after doctors at the railroad’s clinic deemed him unfit due to a note on his military record that he suffered from a mental disorder. The mark was made in 1992, when homosexuality still retained its Soviet-era classification as a “perverse psychopathy.”
The court ruled on Sept. 20 that the clinic had violated the law and ordered the railroad to accept his application.”

“Responding to reports that the Vatican may be close to releasing a directive to exclude most gay candidates from entering the priesthood, leaders of Roman Catholic men’s religious orders in the United States are planning to travel to Rome to voice their objections in person.
The trip is one of the steps by leaders of Catholic religious orders to try to reassure priests and seminarians who have been rattled by news of a possible Vatican ban on the ordination of gay men.”

Hi, is your name Scot? No, no, it is a recent study in Scotland that cites the number of gay men having unprotected sex has doubled in the last 6 years. In explaining about the growing trend of risky sex in Scotland, a Glasgow University professor
blamed what he called a prevention failure.
He said a new generation of young gay men were ignorant about the real risks, partly because their peer group is not dying of the disease, thanks to better HIV treatments, and partly due to less focus now on prevention.

Didn’t they learn anything from Contact? Nobody believed Jodie Foster in that movie either and did they learn? Nooooooo. I just caught Flight Plan over the weekend and the lesson is plenty clear - When Jody speaks you should listen no matter how ourtrageous she sounds. K? Got it?
As for these crazy flight attendants who want to boycott the movie, well that’s just plain drama queen nonsense:
“They may have put up with being depicted as featherheaded flirts or even carry-on counting fascists, but flight attendants draw the line at the way they come across in Jodie Foster’s new hit movie.
Three flight attendant groups are calling for a boycott of “Flightplan,” which debuted at No. 1 last weekend, claiming that the depictions of a flight attendant and air marshal are outrageous and disrespectful.”
For the record, there was one male flight attendant in Flight Plan and he was no more or less gay than the captain.

“maybe we’re a little unpracticed in the art of schlong-spotting (though we can spot a nipple through two inches of opaque cocktail dress at a range of thirty feet, look how hetero we are, etc etc), but we’re totally at a loss for what we’re supposed to be looking for here. If anything, we think we left off a couple of arrows.”

Ontario Health Minister George Smitherman is shrewdly trying to lure gay doctors from the U.S. into moving to the more gay friendly, and doctor desperate, province:
“Ontario wants to capitalize on Canada’s image of being more accepting of the gay community — highlighted by national legislation permitting same-sex marriages, passed this summer — as part of its overall effort to sell the merits of Ontario to the rest of the world, David Spencer, a spokesman for the provincial Ministry of Health, said on Tuesday.
George Smitherman, Ontario’s first openly gay cabinet minister and its health minister, spent the past weekend at a conference for the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, making a bid to attract its mostly American members.”
